Weddings at The Headfort Hotel, Kells, Co. Meath

Meg & Ben at the Headfort Hotel Kells in the most chilled wedding Meath has seen in all of 2025. These two legends had me along to capture their day back in August this year. NO FUSS, NO HASSLE just documenting their day, capturing all the various personalities and quirks of their day. I loved all the little Harry Potter references through out the day from the wedding ring box to potions with a little extra spice in them haha. And one thing I hadn’t seen up until this point was the sweepstakes for a bar tab by guessing the first dance song what a great little touch.

If you’re looking for a warm, character-filled wedding venue in Kells, it’s impossible not to fall a little bit in love with the Headfort Hotel. Tucked right in the heart of historic Kells, Co. Meath, it has that perfect balance of relaxed Irish charm, old-world welcome and just the right amount of quirk, which couldn’t have suited this couple more.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this wasn’t a “traditional by the book” kind of wedding. These two are beautifully alternative — chilled, creative, and completely themselves. The day flowed with easy laughter, family hugs in every direction, and the kind of atmosphere you can’t stage or style it just comes from big hearts and bigger connections.

A Wedding Where Family Came First

Many couples say their wedding is “about family”, but these two truly lived it. Little hands holding onto big ones, tearful embraces between parents and grandparents, cousins twirling each other around the dancefloor later on, the Headfort Hotel was filled with warmth from afternoon to night.

An Epic Dancefloor from the First Song

When people describe weddings as “legendary”, THIS is what they mean. As soon as the music started, the dancefloor was never empty ,we’re talking spins, dips, shoulder-lifts, and the kind of moves that only come out when people are truly having the time of their lives. It was loud, joyful, slightly wild in moments, and utterly unforgettable.

Every now and again I stepped back just to take in the view grandparents shoulder to shoulder with friends, cousins laughing until they nearly cried, and that gorgeous couple front and centre, soaking in every second.
