Let’s Talk Awards!!!

spoiler alert I won a this is reportage award!!! im so excited I need to tell you all about it read the short blog here

bride and groom share a moment , unknowingly to the bride her veil has blown off and gotten wrapped up in the flower girl behind her

This is my very first THIS IS REPORTAGE Award!!! and I could not be happier right now. It’s 12.05 after midnight on October 3rd and after a year of entering I’m finally sitting here as a this is reportage winner.

Nothing staged, Nothing posed. That is TIR's moto. For those of you who don’t know, TIR was founded by the very talented Cornwall wedding photographer Alan Law. Who in the jist of it created the website for a place where documentary wedding photographers could showcase their work outside of the then portrait obsessed instagram (now reel obsessed). Roll on 2024 and Tir now has 1000s of members and averages about 10-11k images entered per round of awards with only 50-60 images chosen. Giving you a less than 1% chance of winning. Every round which is every two months is drenched in the immense talent that presides in the documentary wedding photographer located the length and breadth of the world not just Ireland and the uk. As a documentary wedding photographer I thought I knew what documentary photography was until I entered the world of TIR, boy was I wrong (embarrassed emoji). The level was beyond anything I had known and for a year I entered images in a bit of a hope and wing it kinda vibe!! and each round for a year I came up empty handed. The awards would be released, my heart would sink and I’d look through the collection and realise why I didn’t win. My images just weren’t good enough!!! and I knew this deep down. I was playing it too safe.

12 months later and I entered the above image. The veil shot from Jason and Kates awesome little wedding in The Tankard pub just outside of Tralee, Kerry in the south of Ireland. I knew I had something with this one and the feedback from my peers suggested the same but that didn’t guarantee anything. I had to be brave enough to put myself out there over and over again.

Beep comes the notification for a new email and I open it at the desk. This is reportage….. you’ve won an award!!!!!

What the actual F**k!!!! My head is gone and I’m dancing in my chair like a kid who was just given cake for breakfast!!! I did it I finally did it!!!

And if you’re sitting there thinking it’s only one award whats the big deal. And you’d be entitled to that opinion cos you’re right it is only one award but it’s what the award means which is so much more important to me. It means growth, It means the hard work is paying off, it means my name is etched in documentary wedding photography folklore but so much more than that it means I’m doing something right!!! That the style of photography I chose is right for me an right for the couples who trust me to capture their day through my eyes how I see the world!!!

Like most (I assume) I have a list of goals on a board in my bedroom and winning a TiR was on the list for this year and I’m so thankful I achieved that goal!!! 2024 has been a yer I believe I’m on my way to being the photographer I know I am and this isn’t the end WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!!!!

click here to see all the amazing photos from collection 41 . Thank you to everyone for all the message and congratulations I’m blown away by it all. Andy x

Why I Photograph Close up To Get The Images You’ll Love

Castleknock Hotel Wedding - Fujifilm XT-5 + Xf 18mm 1.4

There is a famous quote in the photography world - “If you’re photos aren’t good enough you’re not close enough” by the legendary and often mythologised war photographer and founder of Magnum Photo Agency - Robert Capa

When I first picked up a camera I always wanted my images to be about something instead of just something. When starting out I would photograph landscapes, you know churches, ruins, Poolbeg (if you don’t know Poolbeg is the famous red and white chimney stacks located on the south side of Dublin City). But this didn’t or couldn’t hold my attention cos it’s not what drove me. As a documentary Cavan wedding photographer I quickly realised why that didn’t hit me as a creative the way I wanted it to. I wanted to be know for something more, to give people something they could cherish to leave something behind and in those first few weddings I felt I was always holding back, like I was shooting the wedding from the outside. Now my coupes loved their photos and I did a good job but I wanted more from me as a photographer and I think that comes deep from my childhood more likely my teenage years into my 20s when I just wanted more from my life. My expectation of myself is always so high and sometimes Kerri (my better half) has to be the voice of reason for me, but for me I always have to be better not only for me but for my couples the ones who put their trust in me.

Dublin City Hall Wedding - XT-3 +Xf 18mm 1.4

My favourite lens I’ve owned as a documentary wedding photographer is the fujifilm Xf 18mm 1.4. This lens changed everything for me. It’s the equivalent of a 28mm focal length in full frame terms and to the non photography folk thats kinda like the 1.2x on your iPhone. So why 28mm ? This lens made me realised I needed to get closer to my subjects to be able to make people feel like they were back there at the moment of the photo, to get more of the story in the frame but also allowing me to crop if I needed to. whats out of the frame is sometimes as important as whats in the frame. As my mentor Phil Salisbury says crop it until you think you’re right and crop it some more. If you want to see more how I approach your wedding day then click here. The couples I tend to attract are people who love photos but hate posing. Fun Couples who want to do things differently like Suzanne & Ross’ crazy fun wedding in The Medley in Dublin on new years eve. For couples that look for timeless, moment driven photos that can be passed down to future generations.

Shoot How It Feels, Not How It Looks

This is so important to me as a Cavan wedding photographer. That myself and my couples are on the same page. If you want me to have you posed in every nook and cranny in your wedding venue you then I might not be the photographer for you. Now don’t get me wrong I will do some portraits I’ll always take my couples on a wander around the venue just a quick 10-15min break from the chaos but what want for my couples is for the in between moments to become their new favourite memories. That’s what drives me thats what I want my wedding photography remembered for.

Marlfield House Wedding - Fujifilm XT-5 + Xf 18mm 1.4

Like this tender moment between between Megan and her mom in one room and her sister Amy getting her make-up done in the adjacent room. for context as a wexford wedding photographer I’m backed right up against the wall in the hallway with the two rooms split by the door frame. Patiently waiting for things to line up and sometimes thats all you need to do as a moment driven photographer is to wait and let it unfold in front of you and thankfully thats what happened here. It doesn’t always pan out but thats ok the more you do this the more you'll see the moments that your couples will come to love. thank you for reading this far and enjoy a few more images

Kenmare Wedding Photographer at Dromquinna Manor

a blog about Kealinn and Marks awesome day at dromquinna Manor in the heart of kenmare, Co.Kerry. A black tie wedding with a chilled vibe and touch of documentary wedding photography

I always say this is my dream job so much so it’s almost unfair to call it a job. I loved getting to photograph Kealinn and Mark’s Dromquinna Manor wedding, located in the gorgeous town of Kenmare in County Kerry. The short 4hr and 30 min drive down the road from Cavan in the sunshine was a dream, podcast on the radio and a cappuccino in the cup holder and I was set. I arrived relaxed and on the day, I walked into a getting ready room full of giggles with Kealinn as chilled as they come. a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in the marquee and a reception on the lawn of this outrageous stately home built on the backdrop of stunning views thats draws the tourists to kenmare year in year out. They loved the photos I delivered with Kealinn emailing me “Wow - we love the photos!! Thank you so much, you really captured the day so well. Thanks again for all your time on the day and all the work, they are so amazing and our family have been enjoying so much going through them in the last day! As a documentary wedding photographer thats all I can ask for knowing my couples love what I do :) check out a selection of photos down below

Wedding Photography By Andy @ Forged In Love

So, you’re thinking of hanging out with me on your wedding day to take some pictures? firstly - can I just say you’re a bunch of legends and secondly - Hi…i’m Andy a documentary wedding photographer based in Mullagh in Co. Cavan which is about 15 mins from where they found the Book of Kells all those years ago.

I photograph all over Ireland and abroad too. From someone who’s quite shy in front of the camera, I have a deep understanding and empathy for the couples I get the honour to photograph. thats why my approach is to let you enjoy your day and hopefully you forget all about the photos. thats why my photography has been described at still moments full of movement and emotion. For me the most important thing is that the phots are about the wedding, the wedding isn’t about the photos.

He has a very special way of showing YOU in a photograph
— Aoife & Conor 2022

A Few Images That Say A Lot About Who I Am….

Below you will find a few images…. I say a few its around 30 that show who I am as a photographer, an artist and a person. when I first picked up the camera, I always wanted my images to be about something and not just “of something”. They are also say so much about the couples that choose myself to photograph their wedding days. Relaxed and chilled couples who see their wedding day as an excuse for a good knees up, who want more from their photos than just standing around fake smiling. Real people, Real emotions, Really good photos. I hope you enjoy reading through this blog and looking through the images

A Relaxed Documentary Approach From The Very Beginning Of Your Day

The Pre-ceremony part is my favourite to photograph. I love hearing all the goss, the excitement of what is going to happen throughout the day, the human connection and behaviour and some ties a little bit of chaos. This part of the day allows people to get used to me being there. To change people expectation of what wedding photography is. As I don’t set anything up this can be a little confusing to some people but 99% of the time you can see the nerves leaving their faces as they realise they don’t have to be posing and been moved around. I want you and your guests to have the day you were meant to.

Authentic and real moments

I don’t pose or set shots up so that allow for real moments, the real of who you are and the people you love the most. I want to show people who they are. To let the in between moments become your new favourite memories. so i’m always ready for moments like below

His personality shows in his work you can tell he truly loves what he does
— Rob & Jen 2022

Spontaneous Moments Of Joy

Changing The Perspective Of Your Wedding Photos

I always knew what way I wanted to shoot weddings. I’m very influenced by street photography and telling stories so my approach to weddings is the same. I’m constantly moving trying to find that new angle, new perspective, If a vendor or coordinator tells me that a previous photographer took a photo here or there. I’ll take it on board and turn around because my goal is to give my couples images that they haven’t seen before. But if you ask for an image thats ok I’ll try my best to get but with my own take. But what i’ve realised over the last couple of years is that if you believe in something so strongly then so will others and most importantly surround yourself with people who believe in you even when you don’t believe in yourself because thats how you get to where you want to be. That transforms into your wedding too if you believe in what you want from your day then so will the people around you.

Still Moments Full Of Movement

One of my favourite comments I've ever got is that “my images look like they are full of movement or motion” even though they are still photos. I like to emerge myself into a wedding. constantly watching and listening to what is happing through out the day not only to the couple but t what’s going on around them.

Kids At Weddings…

Kids=chaos dogs even better in all the best possible ways. I get it, not everyone will want kids at their wedding and thats ok but I love being able to photograph the unpredictability of them. with two young nephews myself I know how to approach the photographing of them (bribing them mostly works) but I also now hen to leave them alone, when enough is enough.

Yes I DO Take Group Photos

I am a documentary photographer – It’s what I am known for, it’s what I win awards for. And i know my skill at documentary photography is why you’ll choose me to photograph your day. However, if you do want some group shots, I’ll happily take them for you and keep these group shots relaxed and make sure they don’t take over your day. i’ll aim to take all your group shots within around 15 minutes, capturing all those key people in around six group shots. However, even with our relaxed approach, there is always some people you’re left standing around waiting for! so I might end up getting a bit loud ha Group shots are entirely optional – it’s completely up to you if you want some or not. but dont forget im there to serve you if at any point of the day you want me to take a photo for you just grab me, please avoid bums and hair though. But most of all tell about the people you want photos with and why

“We really don’t want to be away from our wedding for too long” “We are so awkward at posing” “We want enjoy our day” “We don’t want the posey style photos”

These are some of the of the most common things that pop up on my enquiries. That tradition of endless posing, endless portraits, endless standing around and endless interruptions of your day. That’s exactly what I avoid on your day and thats why my couples book me. My couples want to relax and enjoy their day. I don’t need you to be standing around your venue posing in every corner for instagram. I need you to be with the people you love. To hug and kiss them, to laugh, to cry and be the people you are. The way you feel about your photos in 20 years is so much more important than how they look to others on instagram for 5 mins.

Immersing In The Wedding

with out the distraction of posing and setting up images it allows me to stay involved in the wedding. watching for the moments that you think may have passed you by. Telling the story of the day is the most important part for me. showing what happened not only to you but your guests too.

I Love The Party !!!!

Although I will photograph the parts of the wedding y couples hire me too as long as we are aligned in what we want from your wedding photography. I’m there to document the day whether that is 6hrs or 12. But the little kid in me does a little dance when I know im gonna get to photograph the dancing. When people give up the inhibitions and just let go.

I absolutely love that I get to do this. its not a job to me its in every ounce of my being and I hope you love what I do too. thank you for supporting me and to all my futures couples we got this !!!

“For the ones who don’t mind getting their shoes dirty, Looking silly in love, Will give it socks on the dance floor, Who care more about how the day feels to how it looks, Who want real emotions, real moments and real memories to look back on. Stress free natural photography for couples in Dublin, Cavan and Meath and all over Ireland.

Wedding Planning Tips 2024 - Pt1

Planning a wedding will be one of the most exciting times in your life. You are planning to celebrate your love with all your favourite people, HOW AMAZING!!! but it can be stressful and worrying if you don’t keep on top of things. The biggest strain to couples is over-spending and time running away on them, you know how it is you blink and 6 months have passed but don’t worry it’s gonna all work and out and its going out be awesome!!!

You’ve popped the question, they’ve said yes so what now??

  1. Pick Your Venue.

I would say that the very first thing to do is settle on your venue. Now, I don’t mean, rush off and view that place you’ve been ogling on Instagram, booking it on the spot and figuring out the details later. Before that, you really need to get clear on what you want from a venue. Yes, the heart element should be strong in this decision, but you should try to let your head take the lead on it. A venue is so much more than a famous view and cool chairs. It has to function the way you need it to and have people running it who will make your life easy and your wedding day seamless. Do you want a “traditional” church wedding? Do you want a humanist ceremony? An all in one from a hotel ? Or do you want the very popular city hall and a restaurant for the reception, these will all factor in the timeline for your wedding. Once you have a date secured with your venue, then book your key suppliers, having ensured that the date you’ve chosen is going to give you enough time to lock in the vendors you really want and to be able to comfortably afford your dream day.

2. Create A Timeline.

Create a detailed planning timeline as soon as possible. Including every single thing that is needed to make the wedding happen in the way that you want it. Everything from chasing RSVPs, to choosing the first dance song, to picking suits, hairdressers to flowers to should get a week on the calendar, and this way, broken down into a task or two a week, it shouldn’t seem so daunting. Delegate the responsibilities between both yourselves and people who are willing to help out.

If like me you are a fan of a techy solution, here’s some apps to help you on your way

  • Postable - for collection addresses for invitations

  • Top Table Planner - for designing your table plan

  • Appy Couple - for keeping your guests up to date

  • Spotify - hear a banger on the radio that you know will have people up dancing save it to a playlist and send it to your DJ

  • Wedding Snap - Collecting Guests' Photographs you can never have too many eyes on a wedding day your photographer can’t be every where all at once so getting your guests to upload their pics helps - bonus its a free content creator ha

  • Tripit - For planning that perfect honeymoon

3. Research Your Vendors.

The best way to find vendors that you really vibe with is to go on a social media deep dive. Find a local vendor you like a lot and follow them online to get a sense of their personality and who they are as a person and business. they are the people you will likely spend the most time with on a wedding day so not only do they have to be good at what they do, you have to like them as a person

My advice is to pick your top 5 vendors in each area and go down the list from 1-5 ie top 5 photographers top 5 Make up artists etc this way you will end up with vendors you love.

Best Of 2023 Wedding Photography Cavan

dunboyne-castle-hotel-wedding-bride-and-groom-walking-in-golden-hour

2023…. what a year!!! I can honestly say it’s been a year of absolute learning. Whether that is in photography or personally all know is I’ve definitely grown in both. I always stumble on these best of posts just because I put so much of myself into every wedding that I never know what to chose at the end ha but below is a selection of shots from this year they’re in no particular order. I’m so thankful for everyone who put their trust in me this year, but we are only getting started 2024 we are gonna go bigger and better.

Theres been so many wins this year. I got into the I.P.P.V.A, I went to my first DocDay conference and met so many amazing photographers. I can honestly say that this has been the biggest influence so far in my career. I got to do a work shop with the amazing Kevin and Annie Kheffache, two of my biggest influences in wedding photography. I met Dave Cremin who is up there with the best of street photographers in Ireland seeing that man work on the streets was amazing and I really should do a post about my street photography and I built so many relationships with fellow photographers and I feel like I finally found my people.

2023 has been the first full year of Forged In love photography after my rebranding and moving to Co. Cavan wedding photography, I discovered google is a full time job on its own when you own a business ha and I can say my mid year identity crisis is fully behind me. I moved more to a documentary style but I can’t help myself with the creativity sometimes ha but for 2024 my goal is to show people who they are at their wedding so focusing more on the connection and moments between the people in front of the camera.

Everything you see on my website is Real. Real People, Real Moments from real weddings happening in real time. There is no A.I trickery in any of these images (besides tidying up any distracting elements etc )

I’m so thankful to my couples for trusting me to capture the moments that matter the most to them. They are all shot on FujiFilm Cameras between the X-T5 and X-T3. I’m so happy to be going into 2024 with a camera system (I’ve upgraded to 2 X-T5s now :) ) that allows me to get up close and is unobtrusive to people allowing me to shoot weddings in the style I love and I’ve finally settled on my colours that I’m so happy with now.  I’ll never stop learning and improving as much as I can as long as people want me to shoot their weddings I’ll bring my personality and style to every wedding!!!

“For the ones who don’t mind getting the dress dirty, looking silly in love, will give it socks on the dance floor, who care more about how the day feels to how it looks, who want real emotions, real moments and real memories to look back on.

Orlagh House Wedding Photographer Dublin - Siobhan & Ross

As an Orlagh house wedding photographer, I love that this stately home is only located 5 mins from the M50 Tallaght exit. My mind was blown it seems so far up in the mountains from anything you see online but it really isn’t. You will get all of the feeling of a gorgeous country estate at this lavish house. Exclusively yours for your wedding day, there is also the option of booking a second day and bridal parties and rehearsal dinners. I first met Siobhan and Ross last year at his sister Amy’s traditional Sikh wedding in dublin. And this one definitely felt like it was shooting a friends wedding! My only disappointment was not being there for the whole day as they booked 6hrs as covering the getting ready and ceremony was important for them. But I knew there was gonna be fun in the evening and Siobhan sending me vids of her up on chairs. I had the biggest form of FOMO ever haha but the hours I was there did not disappoint. I was very influenced by the book “Is This Something@ by York Place Studios for this one as I had only read it the week before looking for layers and connecting photos and incorporating what I do best which is moments. Ross had such nice things to say posting on google that “We highly recommend Andy as your wedding photographer. He immediately puts you at ease and you feel like you have known him forever. He is very professional and brought a lot of fun to our day.we will be recommending him to all our family and friends”. Thank you guys for having me I had a blast !!!!

Weddings At Lough Rea Hotel & Spa, Galway - Lorraine & Paul

Lorraine and Paul at Lough Rea in Galway. Epic sunsets, party canons on the dance floor, groomsmen sipping on weird liquor from somewhere unknown, hyped up kids on sugar and a bride who just couldn’t wait to be a wife. This day had it all and was so much fun from start to finish.

Having an all in one ceremony and reception at the luxury 4 Star Lough Rea hotel & Spa overlooking the majestic Loughrea lake just 20 mins from Galway City. Ideal Base To Explore Galway & Its Surrounding Areas. Surrounded by a quaint little village and beautiful lake which we had to go and try get the sunset at and boy did it not disappoint .Lough Rea Hotel and Spa has been selected as the Top Wedding Hotel in Ireland for 2023. The award is based on reviews and testimonials of the hotel on weddingdates.ie by couples who have had their weddings there.

Not only did Lough Rea Hotel and Spa earn the prestigious Ireland title but they also picked up the gong for Galway Top Rated Venue, Connaught Top Rated Venue and Top Rated Four Star venue which included hotels in Northern Ireland, an impressive 4 awards in total. The Lough Rea Hotel & Spa is licensed for civil wedding and civil partnership ceremonies. Lorraine and Paul exchanged their vows against the panoramic backdrop of the lake and distant mountains of the fourth floor Slieve Aughty suite and you can opt for a rooftop cocktail reception if you can get the weather for it unfortunately we didn’t. Damien and the guys there are on the ball every minute of your day and no request is too small or big for them.

Lorraine and Paul opted for the stunning De Dannan Suite boasting Murano glass chandeliers, luxurious velvet drapery and interchangeable lighting to suite the theme of their wedding. With guest being able to chill in the Piano Lounge before dinner. The food was delicious. I’’m always so thankful when couples treat you like a friend and have you seated with their guests for the meal. It gives me a chance to get to see who is gonna be the wild one on the dance floor haha

I really enjoyed this one and theres so many unforgettable moments from it that hope last a lifetime for them. thank you Lorraine and Paul you are both so awesome!!!

Weddings At City Hall, Dublin - Rob & Jen

Being chosen as someone’s wedding photographer is something I’m so proud off on this journey of mine. But being chosen to be someone’s wedding photographer before you have even shot your first wedding is something ill never get my head around. Rob had always said from the day I picked up a camera that when he got married I was the only one they wanted to shoot. They stuck to their word! Rob & Jen are either insane or insanely trusting ha.

Having their wedding is the hugely popular city hall in Dublin and an after party in the trendy Mayson Hotel. Rob & Jen did it their way. Surrounded by family on both sides., the emotions were flying high in the picturesque background of one of Dublins iconic venues.

It costs €1250 to get married at the Dublin City Hall, including a deposit of €550 to secure your date. And is booked out well over two years in advance. They only take on one wedding per day and for good reason. This is my opinion one of the most beautiful venues to get married in Dublin. with its stunning architecture and old-world charm, is one of the most stylish and unique venues you will find in which to celebrate their Dublin city wedding. The 18th century building is the perfect backdrop to any special day and the spectacular Rotunda with its ornate gold-leafed dome, marble floor and sumptuous fittings was the perfect space for the wedding of their dreams.

Choosing to dine and dance the night away at the trendy Mayson Hotel situated on Dublin’s famous docklands. The latest offering from Press Up in(the group behind The Dean Hotel and many other popular venues around the city). Located near The Point Village, with views across the Liffey and out to Dublin Bay. With several New York-style bars, restaurants and events spaces, there are options for couples throughout the hotel. The Timber yard, a dedicated events space with its own bar, balcony, and cool cladding and brickwork aesthetic is the most versatile space, with seating for up to 110 guests. the mayson definitely offered a new and unique experience for couples who dint want that usual hotel experience from a Dublin City wedding.

Thank you Rob and Jen, love you guys and I can’t wait to watch you grow your family over the years and see the amazing future you are building for yourselves

“We booked Andy for our wedding 20th may 2022. It was in glebe house, dowth. Andy fit in with our family and group as soon as he came through the door! He made us feel so at ease as well as sometimes not even realising he was there. It was like having a really talented friend who was able to take the most amazing pictures of us join us for the most special day of our life, not just a photographer.
Andy is fun, creative, nostalgic, romantic and captured us in all our many different faces, he has a very special way of showing you in a photograph. I would highly recommend him for your special day! Wonderful pieces of art you get when you book him as well as fantastic memories.”

The property has been thoroughly renovated in recent years but retains the charm that makes it so popular among newly engaged couples. The estate also offers a rich history, having been built on the site of the original castle. This was destroyed in the 18th Century Cromwell invasion, and the ruins can still be viewed on the grounds.

However, the rich heritage of the estate is just one of the reasons it has gained a reputation as the top wedding venue in Meath. With a choice between the Georgian Drawing Room and contemporary Tara Ballroom, weddings with up to 220 guests can be held in the hotel. They operate a one wedding a day policy and are delighted to help you celebrate your special day. Weddings At The Carlingford Brewery Company, Carlingford, Louth - Catherine & Mickey

Carlingford Brewery Company, Carlingford, Co. Louth

Catherine & Michael…. Two of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Mick had some health problems so they got married before this day so this wedding turned out to be more of a celebration of life. They were so chilled all day and as you can see spent the day laughing their hearts out.

The setting for this awesome day was the Carlingford Brewery Company.Located in the heart of the Cooley Peninsula and just a one-hour drive from both Dublin and Belfast lies a beautiful secret. A secret unknown for ten years but which has stood for eight centuries. A secret that has served thousands of families over the years and is now re-emerging to serve many families in the future.

The Old Mill, Riverstown. A fully-working Mill for 600 years, this exquisite building is available to book exclusively for your wedding day. If you’re looking for somewhere truly unique that you, your partner, family and friends will never forget, celebrate at the Old Mill.

Imagine your wedding day set in the rustic Taproom, surrounded by rustic woodlands and an unfiltered character and ambiance boxed up and packaged for your big day. They famous for weddings in our Old Mill. A barn-like atmosphere and an unwavering character on the grounds of the Carlingford Brewing Company but one thing they noticed over the past two years, was the increase of wedding enquiries for smaller numbers of guests. Quirky yet beautiful weddings, catering for guest sizes between 20 and 60. This is what gave them a great idea!

They spent months deciding on a unique wedding package offering for these smaller, more intimate and that little bit more rustic wedding couples and came up with the perfect solution: Weddings in the Carlingford Brewing Company Táin Taproom! Taking it up a notch for intimacy and total rustic ambiance.

If great rustic food is what you’re about then step outside and watch them cook authentic wood fired pizza from a stone oven outside the Taproom, a real ‘Wow!’ factor for guests, and for those who love craft beer, you couldn’t have it pulled any closer as they brew all their beer on-site. Catering options include a pig on a spit, a barbeque, an amazing antipasti picnic spread and traditional catering options also, you name it!

Guests can be seated in the cosy surroundings of the Taproom itself with its wood burning stove and chilled out vibes or in warmer weather, there is ample covered and heated outdoor seating in our terrace, set in the mature leafy landscape, overlooking the Old Mill and with seating now also overlooking the picturesque stream.

For wedding enquiries or to receive our new Taproom Wedding brochure via email, please email info@carlingfordbrewing.ie.

Documentary Communion photography

Noah enjoys his KFC bucket on his Communion day.

It’s such a nice feeling when previous couples reach out to you to capture another chapter of their lives. I photographed Aoife and Conor’s wedding in Glebe House in Drogheda last year. It was Little Noah’s communion this year and I was asked to capture the day for them :)

Noah might be my spirit animal. All he wanted to do was to go to KFC and get a bucket to himself. So I convinced Aoife to let me come to KFC with them and it was so much fun, we got some funny lots but who cares haha of course I grabbed the traditional family photos for them but documentary is my niche. Capturing those in between moments is my favourite thing to do.

On the Sunday they had a family bbq, it honestly for me just felt like hanging out with friends, Aoife’s friends have this running joke where they say they’re gonna get me to come on a night out with them and bring my camera so they can create their own end scene of the hangover movie haha

I approached the day like I do in a wedding, looking outside the norm and I hope you enjoy the photos :)
