Weddings At The Glebe House, Dowth - Aoife & Conor

Aoife and Conor. What can I say about these two, funny, loved up and down to just have the best day they possibly could with the people they loved the most. Walking into Aoife’s mums house on the morning of prep and getting probably my fave dress shot I’ve gotten the house just told so many stories, photos on every surface there could be and laughter in the kitchen. Aoife’s brother Conor (or Conor 2 as I was calling him) forever the showman kept everyone entertained the whole day along with Grahams Cheesy Quiz from ceremony giggles to giving it absolute socks on the dance floor this day had it all.

Elizabeth is a superstar and will help in every way with contacts for local churches, florist, photographer and the hire of any kind of transport from horse-drawn carriage to Rolls Royce and arrange all the decorations of the dining-room and other spaces to suit your personal style and complement your big day in every possible way.

The Reception is Country House Style with beautiful local food ...and lots of it. This is a sit down meal, a mixture of table service and buffet which is a legendary part of our services. A Wedding Blessing can be arranged indoors in the old style woollen mill or in our exquisiite gardens overlooking the historic Boyne Valley of Meath, the so-called Royal CountyYou are welcome to visit and view Glebe House anytime with prior arrangement with Elizabeth

Glebe House Dowth is an enchanting private venue for any wedding or celebration and is located in the heart of the Boyne Valley, amid the historic Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth Ancient Burial Tombs and only 35 minutes from Dublin Airport and 1.5 hours from Belfast. “We booked Andy for our wedding 20th may 2022. It was in glebe house, dowth. Andy fit in with our family and group as soon as he came through the door! He made us feel so at ease as well as sometimes not even realising he was there. It was like having a really talented friend who was able to take the most amazing pictures of us join us for the most special day of our life, not just a photographer.
Andy is fun, creative, nostalgic, romantic and captured us in all our many different faces, he has a very special way of showing you in a photograph. I would highly recommend him for your special day! Wonderful pieces of art you get when you book him as well as fantastic memories.”
— Aoife - 2022

Weddings At Dunboyne Castle Hotel, Dunboyne -Dan & Georgia

Dan and Georgia…. From forgiving him for falling asleep before their first date at jimmy Chung’s Chinese in Dublin aged 16 (r.i.p Jimmy Chungs) to saying I do 9 years later. These two knew no matter where they are going in life they’re gonna do it together. Perfectly balanced, a bond most search for their whole lives, the yin to his yang and a shared love for a pint of the black stuff these two are made for each other.

Situated just 20 minutes down the motorway from the Dublin, Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa offers a luxurious setting away from the bustling city life. The Tara Suite, can accommodate celebrations with up to 220 of your most awesome and favourite people for you to eat and dance the night away as elegant lighting highlights the high ceiling, covering your reception in a glamorous glow. Intimate ceremonies can take place in the Drawing Room, which features a picturesque fireplace for couples to use as their altar backdrop. A detailed chandelier hangs overhead for a classic aesthetic. The hotel also features 145 bedrooms and suites detailed with modern amenities to give visitors a relaxing overnight stay. Also available is the Synolda Suite, a welcoming get-ready suite for you and your loved ones to prepare for the altar in style.

With a dedicated team working to make your big day run as smooth and stress free as I’ve seen, Dunboyne castle is the perfect setting for people looking to get married in Meath.

Dunboyne Castle Hotel is a stunning Georgian mansion, built in 1764. The property has been thoroughly renovated in recent years but retains the charm that makes it so popular among newly engaged couples. The estate also offers a rich history, having been built on the site of the original castle. This was destroyed in the 18th Century Cromwell invasion, and the ruins can still be viewed on the grounds.

However, the rich heritage of the estate is just one of the reasons it has gained a reputation as the top wedding venue in Meath. With a choice between the Georgian Drawing Room and contemporary Tara Ballroom, weddings with up to 220 guests can be held in the hotel. They operate a one wedding a day policy and are delighted to help you celebrate your special day. Discover what’s on offer in the Meath wedding venue, and imagine hosting your celebrations with them.

Thank you to Dan and Georgia for trusting me to capture day. It was a blast!!! and thank you to the guys at Dunboyne Castle hotel for looking after me, I’ll see you soon!!!

“So in love with all the photos! Gonna be so hard to pick for the album. I’ve been saving and sending them to everyone”.

Weddings At The Carlingford Brewery Company, Carlingford, Louth - Catherine & Mickey

Carlingford Brewery Company, Carlingford, Co. Louth

Catherine & Michael…. Two of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Mick had some health problems so they got married before this day so this wedding turned out to be more of a celebration of life. They were so chilled all day and as you can see spent the day laughing their hearts out.

The setting for this awesome day was the Carlingford Brewery Company.Located in the heart of the Cooley Peninsula and just a one-hour drive from both Dublin and Belfast lies a beautiful secret. A secret unknown for ten years but which has stood for eight centuries. A secret that has served thousands of families over the years and is now re-emerging to serve many families in the future.

The Old Mill, Riverstown. A fully-working Mill for 600 years, this exquisite building is available to book exclusively for your wedding day. If you’re looking for somewhere truly unique that you, your partner, family and friends will never forget, celebrate at the Old Mill.

Imagine your wedding day set in the rustic Taproom, surrounded by rustic woodlands and an unfiltered character and ambiance boxed up and packaged for your big day. They famous for weddings in our Old Mill. A barn-like atmosphere and an unwavering character on the grounds of the Carlingford Brewing Company but one thing they noticed over the past two years, was the increase of wedding enquiries for smaller numbers of guests. Quirky yet beautiful weddings, catering for guest sizes between 20 and 60. This is what gave them a great idea!

They spent months deciding on a unique wedding package offering for these smaller, more intimate and that little bit more rustic wedding couples and came up with the perfect solution: Weddings in the Carlingford Brewing Company Táin Taproom! Taking it up a notch for intimacy and total rustic ambiance.

If great rustic food is what you’re about then step outside and watch them cook authentic wood fired pizza from a stone oven outside the Taproom, a real ‘Wow!’ factor for guests, and for those who love craft beer, you couldn’t have it pulled any closer as they brew all their beer on-site. Catering options include a pig on a spit, a barbeque, an amazing antipasti picnic spread and traditional catering options also, you name it!

Guests can be seated in the cosy surroundings of the Taproom itself with its wood burning stove and chilled out vibes or in warmer weather, there is ample covered and heated outdoor seating in our terrace, set in the mature leafy landscape, overlooking the Old Mill and with seating now also overlooking the picturesque stream.

For wedding enquiries or to receive our new Taproom Wedding brochure via email, please email info@carlingfordbrewing.ie.

“You two are like ninjas!!! I'm gonna book you for my newphew’s wedding cos I’m the cool aunty and I said I’d pay for the photographer. What’s my discount?”

Destination Weddings In Gibraltar, Spain - Carol & Niall

Gibraltar, United Kindom

Being chosen to be someones wedding photographer is an absolute privilege and one I will never take advantage of. But being flown to another country to capture the most important day of a couples life is the biggest compliment I think I’ll ever receive, not only a photographer but as a person and friend.

Niall and Carol decided that it was time to do what they knew they were gonna do eventually anyway, they planned and executed moving country, changing jobs and getting married all with in 5 weeks of each other (yeh they’re crazy) but only Niall and Carol could achieve something like this. So off they went to Gibraltar, a small province of the United Kingdom, on the south of Spains coast, flew over the people most special to them and tied the knot in a registry office and the rest is history. Welcome to the world of Mr and Mrs McKeever.

Unfortunately for Carol, her family couldn’t be there as she is originally from Brazil but she did have some Aunts and Uncles in Spain who took the time to travel down and spend some time with everyone. She hadn’t seen them in over two years due to covid and the emotions were running high, it made for some real moments. I wanted to capture these precious moments so I made sure not to interrupt the scene and just quietly documented it as it unfolded, approaching the day in a candid and uninterrupted style.

To Niall and Carol, I love you guys and I’ll see you soon for our holiday, you will forever be in my heart and my friends for life.

“The best decision Niall has made in our whole relationship was hiring you to take our photos, I'm in shock, I knew you were good but I’m so happy with them. You are a legend!”

Documentary Communion photography

Noah enjoys his KFC bucket on his Communion day.

It’s such a nice feeling when previous couples reach out to you to capture another chapter of their lives. I photographed Aoife and Conor’s wedding in Glebe House in Drogheda last year. It was Little Noah’s communion this year and I was asked to capture the day for them :)

Noah might be my spirit animal. All he wanted to do was to go to KFC and get a bucket to himself. So I convinced Aoife to let me come to KFC with them and it was so much fun, we got some funny lots but who cares haha of course I grabbed the traditional family photos for them but documentary is my niche. Capturing those in between moments is my favourite thing to do.

On the Sunday they had a family bbq, it honestly for me just felt like hanging out with friends, Aoife’s friends have this running joke where they say they’re gonna get me to come on a night out with them and bring my camera so they can create their own end scene of the hangover movie haha

I approached the day like I do in a wedding, looking outside the norm and I hope you enjoy the photos :)

Tips for picking your wedding gown.

Some helpful tips for picking your wedding gown

brides poses with her back to camera outside the Anglers rest in Dublin
  1. DO RESEARCH TO FIND WHAT YOU LIKE.

  • There are so many tools available to us. You could go the old fashioned route and rip out pages of magazines. Most people nowadays use Pinterest, you an create mood boards with examples and have all your wedding plans in one place. If you see something online screenshot it, try not to have specific dress in mind but have a them and when you’re ready take it to your first dress appointment to help your bridal consultant.

2. BE OPEN.

  • Bridal consultants will often tell you that they see women come in with a set idea of what they want for a gown, then try it on and don't actually love it, instead, fall for something completely different to what they even imagined. Keep an open mind while wedding gown shopping, you never know you might surprise yourself and everyone else.

3. SHOP EARLY.

  • Most gowns take months to prepare so shop early also factor in alterations, you don’t want to be rushing around the week before your big day trying to alter your dress and always remember its easier to take a dress in than be uncomfortable all day with a dress that’s a bit snug so shop for your size in the moment not for what you think you’ll be on the day.

4. FIGURE OUT YOUR BUDGET.

  • The dreaded M word…. money, money, money. The factor of everything we do. Just remember you only get to do this once. Are you going to keep the dress or sell it after? If you’re going to sell it that could help factor in spending a bit more in the first place, if you’re on a tight budget, try 2nd hand. Claires dress in the top image was found in a charity shop, I now right and its stunning. Sustainability is on trend at the moment so no-one is going to care if you didn’t buy brand new. Also plan in for non-obvious costs into your budget. If you have 2000e to spend on a dress don’t blow the whole lot on the dress, remember you have shoes and accessories to factor in as well. And don’t try on gowns way above your budget it will always lead to disappointment! I must remember that next time I want to buy a car actually :/

wedding dress hanging in a door way at brides house in Carlingford,Co. Louth

5. FIND A GREAT BRIDAL SALON

  • Two things to factor in when picking a store to shop in. 1 - do they have the style you’re looking for and 2 - what is their customer care like. Experience is everything in this industry so read reviews and book an appointment. Please don’t just show up or you might end up disappointed. The guys at Love Ellie in Virginia, Cavan are amazing, click he link to go to their IG page

    6. SHOP ON A WEEKDAY

  • Bridal shops are jammers on a weekend. Meaning you’ll get less attention and the experience won’t be as good, so you have holiday days in work use one of them, take your most trusted friend or family member, make a day of it and don’t feel guilty having a mimosa ;)

    7. Be Prepared to Try on a Lot of Gowns

  • Unless you’re filming for season 5 of love is blind or extremely lucky, the chances of finding the perfect dress on the first try is pretty slim. So a little patience might have to be exercised and prepare yourself for many dresses but remember it’s a marathon not a sprint. That’s why it’s good to start early…. just in case!

8. ARE YOU MORE TRADITIONAL or TRENDY

  • Perhaps you're more the type who wants to look classic and timeless on your wedding day (think lace). Or maybe you're a fashionista who loves being up to the minute on trends. Either way lets get some cool as f**k pics - contact me here

9. STAY TRUE TO WHAT YOU LOVE

  • its so easy to bend to other peoples opinions. The sister who wants you the wear a leather jacket, the mom who wants you to have the one with the most lace, the granny who wishes you would wear her dress. just remember this is your day so make sure you….

PICK THE DRESS FOR YOU!!!

FAQ

FAQs

How long is coverage for a typical wedding day ?

my unlimited coverage* typically runs 10 to 12 hours of continuous coverage inc dinner break. I like to arrive 2-3 hours before your ceremony and will cover both bride and groom prep if in the same venue. If you are in separate venues, I would recommend a second photographer if groom prep photos are important to you though. coverage will normally run into 4 or 5 dances after your first dance but if the dance floor is packed and everyone is having fun I’m gonna keep shooting because no good story starts by being at home in your bed

How many photos do I receive?

Each wedding day can be different. I have a set set amount for each package 4hrs - 150 6hrs - 250 and full day 500+. This could be more or less than the stated amount but it’s always 99% more to be fair. I will always strive to deliver the amount stated in the package. All photographs are in high resolution without any watermarks.

Do I have the option to download the photos onto a USB from the online gallery there for printing?

Yes, as many time you want. your online galley gives you the option to download as much as you want and as many times as you want. Please do not screen shot from your gallery as there is no need it lets you download straight to any device depending on that’s devices storage capacity. There is also a printing shop included in the gallery so you can buy prints directly from there.

Do you do family photographs?

Yes, I do. If that’s what is important to you. I typically ask for a list of important family member groups to have on the day and remind my couples these could take up to 5 mins for each group to be set up so remember 12 groups = 60mins of your time taken up

How long will we spend on portraits?

As I shoot documentary I don’t want you to miss too much of your big day. I usually recommend allotting at least  20-30 minutes with just the two of you. Usually during the 1st half of your cocktail hour. but If you want some epic shots and want to drive to the “top of the hill”, then this will take longer, and if you have a near by location you really want shots at I recommend doing that at golden hour (1 hour before sunset) I try to keep the posing to a minimum as I want to be able to capture the candid and real emotions between you both.

Do you edit pictures after? Any Photoshop involved?

Every photo is fully edited to my style. It takes us photographers hours and hours to select the photos and edit. I do not provide full photoshop edits but I will do some light skin retouching and the removal of distracting elements from images and no I cant remove your husband sorry ladies haha my goal is for you to be able recognise yourself 20 years from now not make you look like a completely different person. if you have picked me as your photographer then its because you like my style swell as me please don’t put filters on your photos. You will receive all photos within 4-6 weeks time(peak times may vary)

Can I send you recommendations on what photos to take?

Some photographers hate this but I don’t mind a suggestion for one or two but just take note these photos will never be the same as your original recommendation. Lighting, composition, camera, lens and the subject all play a part is how an image is captured. So no two photos will ever be the same.

Do you bring a back-up camera?

Yes, of course. I shoot with 2 cameras and if you opt for a 2nd photographer they will be the same. I also use cameras with 2 memory card slots for additional back up of images

How do I book your services? How much is the deposit?

Once you are happy that I am the photographer for you a contract and a 30% booking fee is required to secure your date. Date unfortunately cannot be kept with out this. This fee guarantees your date is not double booked. The retainer is non refundable unless cancelled by myself or I can re-book your date only at that time will I refund your booking fee with the remaining balance to be paid 30 days before your big day.

Wedding Trends 2023

your quick guide to some of the wedding trends to hit our shores in 2023

Here’s a quick guide for all you soon to be brides (and of course grooms) to some of the trends happening in 2023.

The 80s are back -

The walk man, Blockbuster video, Nintendo, prime Arnie and Princess Diana. But in the world of weddings the 80s will inspire dress designs. Voluminous skirts and puff sleeves were common design elements at the time (think of princess Diana’s dress) and that influence is seen on the bridal catwalks in the fashion world but could it make its way into your wedding ? We are seeing couples diving back into the idea that bigger is better for wedding planning and no better statement made than with the bridal gown.

Mates of honour or grooms-maids -

There’s no unwritten wedding law stating that your bridesmaids or groomsmen have to be male or female. We live in such a diverse World. We are starting to see more men chosen as “chief bridesmaid” or women as the “best man”. I for one am here for it!!! If anything, it shows the absolute trust you both have in each other so roll with it :)

First look -

This has been a trend for a while in America but it’s starting to make its way to our more traditional isle of Ireland. As your photographer I cannot recommend it more. It gives you, the couple, time to just take in the moment and appreciate how far you have come together. As your photographer it removes the pressure to get portraits after family formals and allows you to just enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests. I vote more first looks in 2023.

Did you make the cut -

Pre covid the average guest list was around 100 now it’s averaging around 70. The best way to keep cost down and be more sustainable, is to have smaller guest lists. More and more couples are opting for smaller intimate ceremonies with just their closest friends and family and spending part of the budget on a big ass party instead!!! At the end of the day, a wedding is a celebration so why not.

Humanist Ceremonies -

This is something we will see through 2023 and beyond. Couples are now choosing to move away from the boundaries of tradition. Opting instead for a humanist ceremony. This article on humanist ceremony by hitched.co.uk is a great guide to what this is and why it’s becoming so popular.

Green with envy -

Sustainability, save the planet or reducing cost? Whatever way you want to look at it people are going green. Couples are now looking at fake flowers over real ones, purchasing their dresses 2nd hand either through online or charity shops etc., cutting back on table pieces to reduce the amount of waste. How will your wedding contribute to this? Is that a route you’ve even considered? Either way sustainability is the word on the edge of every conversation now.

Alternative entertainment -

One big thing I see on all the Facebook groups is ideas for how to keep their gust entertained. You want people to remember your big day, right? It seems couples are now thinking that the most fun wedding is the one to be at. Picking a good DJ will be key to this but it’s important to choose one who can interact and get a crowd going - not just show up with a half decent playlist!
